Olives
Project Desciption
Olives are considered the number-one crop in Atlas Siwa, as the crop now covers around 300 acres of land and is expected to reach 600 acres by the end of 2022. The types of olive chosen are known to be the best in producing olive oil and therefore have high market value. There is a plan for the company to have its own line of olive oil by acquiring an olive pressing facility in Siwa.

Agriculture Process
The agriculture of olives in Atlas Siwa is done by using modern machinery with high density cultivation methods. Olive trees grow in nutrient-deficient, but well-drained, soils, and need plenty of sun for fruit production and mild winter coolness for the fruits to set. They should not be planted in areas where temperature drops too low, which makes the climate in our farms located in Siwa very suitable to cultivate the best quality of olives.
The olive tree planting scheme is decided according to the cultivation system applied, which is either intensive or non-intensive. At Atlas Siwa, we follow intensive cultivation; in areas with fertile soil and sufficient irrigation, trees are densely planted. We use a dynamic plantation system, whereby trees are densely planted at 5 x 6 m and 6 x 6 m.
